    EGLE Environmental Quality Analyst - Noncommunity Water Supply Unit

    This position serves as the Noncommunity Drinking Water program analyst for analyzing and reporting of technical information related to compliance and enforcement activities in drinking water and environmental health. It also serves as an information source for the Federal Safe Drinking Water Information System, monitors the status of overall drinking water environmental health regulatory efforts, and provides quality assurance for compliance with state contracts for the 44 county-level, local health departments (LHD). This position will be responsible for updating reports, stewarding data, and determining compliance related to public drinking water under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA), Act 399, PA 1976. Regulating public drinking water involves implementing rules for the construction and operation of water-producing infrastructure, as well as tracking adherence to contaminant monitoring schedules. Members of EGLE’s Noncommunity Water Supplies Unit work with people at LHDs to oversee more than 9,000 noncommunity (non-residential), public water supplies in Michigan.

    Environmental Quality Analyst-Enforcement Unit

    This position will serve as an entry-level enforcement case manager in the Drinking Water and Environmental Health Division (DWEHD).  With the assistance and consultation of the Enforcement Specialist and supervisor, this position coordinates escalated enforcement actions triggered by referrals from program and district staff unable to achieve compliance with statutes and rules in the following programs:

    The Environmental Health Division of the Washtenaw County Health Department is looking for a full-time Sanitarian.

    The job duties will primarily be in two program areas. The first program area (~40%) is our Pollution Prevention Program on the Rural Team. Primary job duties include inspection of facilities that store, manufacture, or use hazardous, toxic, or polluting materials. The program helps to ensure safety of those working with the chemicals and prevents contamination to the environment. Work is a mix of site visits to businesses and office work. Other assignments as noted in the job description will be included.

    The second program areas are our Well (10%) and Septic Program (50%) on the Rural Team. Primary job duties include permitting and evaluation of septic systems and drinking water wells, along with their placement, design, installation and function to ensure protection of public health and the environment. Work is a mix of field work (outdoors) in a variety of weather conditions and office work. Other assignments as noted in the job description will be included.

As a condition of continued employment, employees are required to acquire an RS or REHS registration within four (4) years and maintain registration in good standing.
