Description:
Jackson County Health Department is hiring a Sanitarian I or II to help protect public health through inspections, complaint investigations, plan reviews, and community education. This role works across food safety, water quality, environmental health, and regulatory compliance throughout the county. Entry-level and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

Possession of a Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Health, Public Health, Sanitary Science, Engineering, or physical or biological science.  Possession of a valid Michigan driver’s license.  Placement as Sanitarian I or II dependent upon experience.

• • SANITARIAN I: Grade J, $26.44 hourly. This is an entry level position with no previous experience required. Some applicable with experience with a CCFS, CP-FS “in training” or REHS “in training” credential from the National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) is a plus.
• • SANITARIAN II: Grade K, $29.07 hourly. Five (5) years of experience as a Sanitarian I, and/or private industry equivalent; or two (2) to three (3) years of applicable experience as a Sanitarian I, and/or private industry equivalent and possession of a State of Michigan recognized Registered Sanitarian credential.
