Kent County is seeking to fill a Sanitarian Specialist position within the Food Services area of the Environmental Health Division. This is a specialized technical position at a professional level.
The primary duties include being an MDARD standardized trainer of new staff and continuing review of existing staff, quality improvement, quality assurance and the promotion of food safety education and outreach. In addition, this position is responsible for the review of facility plans for compliance with local and state regulations, consultations with business owner/operators, program coordination, quality assurance, and other duties as assigned. This position will work in our food safety, pools, and body art programs.
Excellent customer service to both internal and external clients is required. Work is performed under general supervision, with considerable latitude for independent judgment and action.
Required: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health or a related field of science or engineering and a minimum of three years of related experience. Registered Environmental Health Specialist (REHS) through National Environmental Health Association OR Registered Sanitarian (RS) in the State of Michigan is required. Candidates who are not REHS/RS must be eligible for registration and obtain registration prior to employment.
